It can be quite tricky deciding which cookery course is suitable for your needs. The following information should help make it a little easier.
Our courses are geared to home-cooking and we cover the basic steps for each cooking method and knife skills at every class. Unless specifically stated, they are all suited those who are new to the kitchen or the enthusiastic home cook looking for new ideas for entertaining or preparing food for family or friends. Willingness to learn is far more important than any particular skill – we teach you everything from scratch, from how to chop an onion to how to bake bread (for example). We will never ask you to go away and make a hollandaise without showing you how to do it first!
It’s all about what you feel comfortable with but our courses run at a gentle pace and start with a basic level of tuition and we build upon that throughout the day. Confidence level is important – we want you to feel encouraged and inspired, not out of your depth
We have yet to have a student leave us feeling that they had learned nothing – 99% of our feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Our courses balance classical and contemporary styles and our Instructors are always learning new skills and techniques to pass on.
Our hands-on courses have a maximum of 14 attendees with 1 Instructor to 6 people so there is plenty of individual attention.
Wear something casual, whatever clothes you fee comfortable in. It’s important to wear comfortable flat shoes as you will be standing while preparing recipes at the cook stations. We provide aprons to protect your clothes and we would appreciate if you can tie up long hair while cooking.
We provide all the equipment, ingredients and refreshments throughout the day. If there is baking to take home, we will recommend a tubberware container when relevant.
Absolutely. The ratio is approximately 65% female, 35% male depending on the course.
